Stuff I Find on Shore

The other day, a quick trip to a little cove at mid-tide revealed many kinds of flotsam. It was windy around these islands the last few days. The wind has brought all sorts of treasure on the pebble beaches.




Above, a red bit of algae that caught my eye, because of all the little protuberances. Very interesting texture. I'll have to check my book on algae and other ocean things, to see if I can locate this one...



And here, a pink bryozoan skeleton resting against a decomposing blade of kelp. Nice composition... by Mother nature.

And finally, the floating bladder of bull kelp, split open (probably by some of the large bits of wood that were beached as well...).
